The biggest thing this week… Cowboy bebop peeps making another series. I literally can not wait.

I’m not a big Rapture fan but I really love this track.

Actually if you’ve been paying attention Victor’s burying the facsimile Bacchus switched posing as Samuel (HERE). But hey, it’s the thought that counts I guess.
I saw redline, loved it. It’s the perfect amount of style over substance. Usually that bothers me, in this case, perfect amount. Also Mamoru Hosoda’s new film (the genius that did “girl who leapt through time” and “summer wars”) has a trailer. Not big into anthro stuff but he’s such an incredible storyteller, can’t wait.

This is seriously one of my favorite albums this year. Really fun to draw to.

I have to admit, this page is almost completely superfluous. I just wanted one more jonathan appearing joke and the apology thing. I’ve had fights with girlfriend’s about being the one who always apologizes. Come to find out, she felt she was always the one to apologize! I think most people don’t realize they’re apologizing in their head’s and not their mouths. Like our ego’s are tricking us. I think in Victor’s head he may have felt it a few times but never really said the words. I like to think it felt good to say it out loud even if he only said it to himself :)

School, school, School, that’s what I’m doing. Typography is infecting me. I’ve been going over the most meticulous details of typefaces all week… I’m lovin it!

*sigh* I’ll be honest, nothing was really jumping out music wise this week. I’m a little disappointed in myself. I feel it’s only kind of standard. Sorry peoples.

Sorry folks! Had some tech difficulties, better now. I had a line in here I really liked but omitted it due to it having nothing to do with the scene. It’s an Alan Watts quote, which I believe was “the funny thing about chasing the back of your head is every time you look for it, it looks away.” Very zen, very cryptic, very silly and kind of prophetic. However it doesn’t fit. I opted to steal a quote from one of my favorite movies Iron Giant. “You are what you choose to be”. So simple and brilliant. I think some of the best advice in the world is the most simple. So simple in fact people under estimate it. For example, “just do it.” Possibly the best advice I’d say 5% take to heart.

Anywho, I saw the Artist this week. It was great! I can’t say I love it because I wasn’t ready to buy it. But well worth your time. Here’s a trailer. Warning! If you like the ladies, you will have a crush on Bérénice Bejo. It is inevitable.

And of course, can’t get enough of this song, I think it’s the bells.

Soooooo 2011 happened. Here’s some cool shit that happened in it.

Bastion: I’d say once a year somebody does something small that blows up and others follow. I feel This game will be a trend setter for years to come.

Scott Snyder: My favorite new comic writer. I feel like everything he’s doing is wonderful (batman, severed, swamp thing, american vampire). His run on detective was my favorite though. A really, really chilling tale. Please grab it and dig in. You can find it HERE

Attack the Block: My favorite movie this Year. Sometimes simplicity is your friend. I feel this was the antithesis to Super 8. Not a bad flick just what’s starting to bore me about hollywood. In ATB the kids are real, they’re dumb and violent, they’re real kids! The danger is real no one is safe, not animals, not kids. The music is spastic and raw not orchestral. The creature design is simple and effective, not a bunch of cobbled cg shit that inevitably looks generic.

Drive: My second fav. Again, Very simple, but highly effective. FYI this is not a fast & furious movie. You’ve been warned.

Lana Del Rey: SHe’s gonna blow up when that album comes out. Really matured, nicely put together music.

The Black mirror: The chilling 3 ep. Sci-fi anthology by charlie Brooker. This is fucking haunting. I’ll love and remember this forever. Here’s chalie talkin about it. Go find it.

Justified Season 2: It’s my favorite show and I honestly have no idea why .There’s just something about the rhythm of dialogue. Also, season 2 has one of the best villains’ I’ve ever seen.

Kung Fu Panda 2: I hated the first one. This was well nuanced and smart. Just solid. Here’s some fan art I just did for it cause I’m bored. BOOSH

The Killing: The closest thing I saw to the wire this year so it wins. Not for the fast paced. I prefer the slower paced cop dramas.

Chaser: I saw a lot of great Korean films this year(I saw the devil, mother, Man from nowhere) this was my favorite.

Saw this documentary and really liked it. They got 1000′s of youtube videos from around the world from 1 day. and cobbled them together. In case you weren’t aware, we’re all kinda the same. It made me happy, sad, angry, confused, bored, inspired … it was everything, everything that is us!

Chilled out a bit on the scratchiness of this page. I don’t really see this as a surprise I’ve dropped plenty of hints. I always intended to focus more on how Victor experiences revelations opposed to an audience. I wrote this quite a while ago and I think quite differently about it now.

P.S. Fight the fuck out of SOPA if you don’t know what that is look it up. It’s evil and the fuck bags running america want to shut you up. They’re clearly tired of being caught slinging dick on twitter. This is my version of passion… anger. I should probably talk to somebody about that actually. Yeah, I’m gonna go do that. A quick big ups to the sensational plan b cover artist Ericka Lugo. I’m always excited to see what she comes up with. Brilliant equal parts composition and style. Can’t wait to work with her again one day… if I can still afford her. Check it!

Hey peoples! SO this is a style I like to use for flashbacks, All of chapter 2 looks like this of course but since then I’ve learned some new tricks. It’s almost more difficult to make something look this bad than it is to made it look beautiful. Anyway, I hope it’s the right amount of fucked up.

Some things to check out. Bioshock is one of my favorite things. Not games, things. So imagine my surprise when I found a podcast of Ken Levine and Guillermo del toro conversing about story telling. Love these guys. Not to miss if you’re into storytelling of any kind. BOOSH!

Episode 2 of Black Mirror has surfaced from the murky depths. I can’t say enough good things about this series. If you didn’t see the 1st ep it’s cool they’re related only in theme. This has what might be the most realistic depiction of the future I’ve ever seen. Steal it HERE

Victor goes deeper into the black door. I can’t believe I finished this, I’m juggling three finals. I did manage to track down “The black Mirror”. I just squirmed for 50 mins. So, for those who don’t know, this is a sensory depravation tank. I knew instantly when I started to write this story there would be sensory depravation involved. I’ve been obsessed with it since I was a little kid. While I have read many, many accounts of it I have never had the chance to use one. Most people I talk to think the idea is absurd, you’re basically in a pitch black, sound proof coffin filled with water and salt. The temp is set to your body temp so basically after an hour or so your body essentially melts away and you’re just a floating brain. John Lennon said it was the closest natural experience to heroin. People often times hallucinate… naturally. All though most people won’t admit it I think the idea of being alone with there thoughts unhindered scares the shit out of them. And rightly so, what we all think about in the rare silent moments of our lives are often embarrassing, gross, and scary. I will be stuck in traffic, zone out, and then just cringe at something stupid I did like ten years ago! I will physically and mentally look away from the memory. I make a conscious effort to not not do that anymore. To look back and laugh, to except it and move on. I don’t want to be like Victor and be so egotistical I can’t think objectively of myself.

Well, enough of that bullshit. This is Victor’s ego starting to melt away. This doesn’t happen this quickly in real life but I really don’t want to drag you nice people through a full page of darkness and little self hating word balloons, you get the idea.
